Don't risk making a will without reading this first...
If you’re anything like me, your family’s welfare means absolutely everything to you.
So it's not unreasonable to think about making sure they're provided for once you're no longer with them.
But there are so many options it can be confusing - comparison sites, DIY will writing kits, online services and big law firms to name a few.
And while those are all viable options, the truth is that:
My name is Mark Riley and I'm the Managing Partner of MJR Solicitors.
We specialise in writing watertight wills so you can guarantee that your loved ones will be taken care of when you're gone.
We're proud of what we offer and know how important it is, which is why we put in the extra effort to provide:
So why not enjoy the piece of mind and convenience of using an experienced professional solicitor and support a small, local business at the same time?
I make the following promises to every single client of MJR
An experienced, qualified solicitor who knows what they’re doing will write your will (as you’ll discover below, this is quite rare in the UK)
Everything in your will shall be clear, legally sound and reflect your wishes.
You will be protected from unnecessary inheritance taxes and other financial burdens like care home fees as required.
You’ll be supported throughout the entire process by a team with over 50 years of legal experience.
All of our clients start by receiving a 1 on 1 conversation with an experienced solicitor to make sure we understand your needs. This is completely free. We’ll even come to your home if you prefer, at any time that suits you!
Only 1 in 3 people have a will. And because of unqualified and DIY will writers, even fewer have a one that is valid!
You’re obviously smart enough to know how important it is to have a valid will, you wouldn’t be on this page otherwise. But you might not be aware of one of the most common sources of invalid wills.
But before that, take a look at some of the things that can happen when you don’t have a valid will.
Lifelong partners forced to sue their own children
Children forced to sue step-parents
Items of unfathomable sentimental value lost to distant relatives
£1000s lost unnecessarily due to inheritance taxes
Entire estates taken by the government
These are all real things that grieving families have had to go through because their will didn’t stand up to scrutiny.
It hurts to imagine your family going through something like that, I’m sure.
And what’s worst of all, many of those people above actually had a will, written by somebody they trusted. Somebody who took their money and claimed to be an expert.
So what happened?
It’s simple - the person writing the will didn’t know what they were doing.
More and more wills in the UK are being declared invalid because they were written by people who know nothing about the law.
And when a will is invalid, the government decides who gets what. And they don't even consider your wishes when they do it.
You see, will writing in the UK is completely unregulated. Anybody can pretend to do it.
That means you’ve got thousands of companies in the UK writing wills with zero legal expertise. Some of these organisations don’t even use people, they rely on computer programs to do it for them!
Please, whatever you do, don’t risk everything you have worked for. I’ve seen the family feuds, lost heirlooms and resentment that an invalid will can cause. I wouldn’t wish it on anybody.
My advice? Eradicate the risk. Get a will written by a team who knows what they are doing.
We’ve got 50 years of experience helping people like you, so why not fill in the form and secure your future?
